The other night I was watching part of America’s Got Talent and there was a gentleman who did “extreme contortion dancing.” He did things with his shoulders that made me wince. He was able to move his body in ways that were very unusual. One of the judges said that they had never seen anything like it before. I would agree with that.
I imagine that the next morning there were more than a few conversations about the contortions of the dancer on America’s Got Talent. There were even more than a few people who brought it up on YouTube to show their friends. It has most likely been pasted on a wall or two on facebook. I’m sure that tweets can be found about his moves, and even his unique haircut. But my guess is that if we followed this man through the rest of his week or month, we would find that much of his life was average. There would be those moments, that made us gasp, but eventually even that would fade if we saw it enough.

As we near Holy Week we we thought it would be good to have a few ideas for you to help you share Holy Week and Easter with your young children. Below are links to 3 items we have for you, a book of coloring pages, a handout of ideas, and a recipe for resurrection cookies!
We need to spend more time seeing not what Jesus chased out, but on what Jesus welcomed in to the temple. Jesus brought hope back to a temple that seemed to often remind people only of how far they were from what God wanted, and never reminded them about the Love and compassion of God. We need to make sure that our churches are places that welcome the spiritually blind, and lame and by God’s powerful Spirit share with them the Christ who heals!
I have been amazing myself lately by spending time about 3-5 times a week at Snap Fitness. Most days I go early, right after I roll out of bed. This is a time when there are typically 4-5 other people up at that crazy time doing the same thing. Last week however I slept in a couple of morning and went to the fitness center after dinner. It was a whole new world up there. in fact on one night I was the only one in the place when I arrived. It was nice, I muted all the TV’s except for the one by my treadmill and I turned on some mindless show to pass the time.
Last night was the annual State of The Union address by the President of the United States. This is a tradition that has long standing in our country. I must admit that over the years I rarely miss watching one of these annual speeches. Depending on the year I either, cheer or grimace as I listen. This year was one of the exceptions. While I caught bits and pieces on the radio, I did not hear the whole speech.
