Merry Christmas – It is the third day of Christmas, you know “Three French Hens” Day. Yet it seems as if Christmas is a thing of the past. The local “all Christmas all the time” radio station is not longer playing Christmas music, in fact they came on the air the day after Christmas as a Country Radio Station… don’t get me started on Country Music. Even our local Christmas Radio Station has stopped playing Christmas Music, or at least I heard non on my drive into work today.
My rhythm is off this year, in the weeks leading up to the big day, we wait and watch through Advent. I ease Christmas music into my life, I ease Christmas decor into my home, I prepare for the dig day. This year I heard that more than 50% of the largest churches in America did not even have a Christmas Day service this year. HELLO – Christmas was on a SUNDAY! What are Christmas and Easter Christians going to do? Do we need to start a new category of Christmas Eve and Easter Christians?
The day after Christmas brought a mega fight to the mega Mall of America. Peace and good will didn’t seem to last very long!
Today I was listening to some new Christmas music on Spotify, and I came across a new favorite song. Matthew West from his “Heart of Christmas” CD records a simple song, that he places as the last track on the CD; “Day After Christmas”.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Rejoice in the Truth of Christ and be bold enough to KEEP wishing people a Merry Christmas!
